Errata

• Page xix: the quote should start "I do not think".

• Page 23, second line: should be "port is" rather than "portis".

• Figure 2.3, on page 25, is pixilated and ugly. You can download a corrected version in Postscript (big), gzip'ed Postscript, or PDF. (There appears to be a bug in Acrobat Reader 4 on at least some platforms that causes spurious lines to appear in the figure. Use 5.0 instead.)

• p. 46, third paragraph, should read: "but the security record for these".

• p. 53, last paragraph of 3.4.1, should start "Far too may routers".

• On pages 150 and 302, ``possession'' was misspelled.

• The bibliography entries for [Adams and Sasse, 1999], [Bunnell et al., 1997], and [Haskett, 1984] have the volume and number interchanged.

• There are misplaced index entries for Orange Book and security through obscurity on the first page of the index; there are more entries for them in the proper locations. The text about meta-entries for hosts, files, programs, etc., is outdated and should be deleted.
